About Me
Since childhood, Art has been part of who I am.
I have always found in drawing and painting a way to understand the world and to understand myself. Through colors, shapes, and symbols, I learned to translate what words cannot always say.
My painting is figurative and symbolic, with lines that reflect my inner journey. Each work is born from a process of self-knowledge, from a silent listening to what I feel and what I am.
Painting, for me, is an act of presence; an encounter with my shadows, a search for my true essence.
I wish that, when looking at what I create, each person can see themselves reflected: in their shadows, masks, patterns and beliefs, recognizing emotions, memories and truths that dwell in all of us.
Each creation is born from within me, reflecting the continuous path of my growth and personal transformation. Helping me evolve and know myself. And in each painting I find a little more of myself, discovering and releasing blockages, revealing more and more my true essence.
I see Art as a power of self-healing.
Biography
Sónia Guerreiro do Nascimento Marques was born in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1975.
Graduated in Communication Design since 2001, she lived a creative journey marked by passion and dedication.
In 2002, she moved to the charming Ericeira, a village that inspired her with its landscapes, the sea and the surrounding nature. It was also in that year that she began her career, first as a graphic designer in an advertising agency and, later, as a children's illustrator in a publishing house.
Over the years, Nia deepened her artistic knowledge through various courses and experiences, each contributing to the construction of her artistic universe.
What really moves Nia is the desire to share her passion with others. Thus, in 2018, she started a project idealized for some time: her Creative Atelier. The atelier is located in Ericeira, where she shares the art of drawing, giving classes and promoting painting workshops, inviting others to discover their own artistic expression.
She participated in several collective exhibitions in Lisbon and, in September 2025, held her first solo exhibition at Casa da Cultura in Ericeira: "Eclipse - a look at our inner feminine and masculine", exploring self-knowledge as the central theme of her work.
